UConn captures the national title

The headline:  Connecticut locks down Butler to capture third national title

The summary:  In a relatively ugly game, the Connecticut Huskies hold off the Butler Bulldogs to capture their third national title since 1999.  Coach Jim Calhoun becomes the oldest coach to win a national title and will now contemplate retirement amid an NCAA investigation into rules violations.

The reaction:  Butler’s not going to win many games period let alone national championship games shooting a pitiful 18.8% from the field.  I really hoped that this would’ve been Butler’s year but they didn’t show up for this game and become the first team since Michigan’s Fab Five lost back to back title games in the 90s.  Once the title euphoria dies down, the attention turns to Calhoun who’s been dealing with NCAA violations for the last couple of years.  He’s facing a minimum three game suspension if he returns or may choose to go out on a high note.  I think he returns but I wouldn’t be surprised if he rides off into the sunset either.
