Barry Bonds guilty of obstruction of justice; jury deadlocked on three counts of perjury

The headline:  Barry Bonds found guilty of obstruction

The summary:  All time home run king Barry Bonds was found guilty of obstruction of justice but the jury was deadlocked on the remaining three counts of perjury.  Bonds is unlikely to face jail time.

The reaction:  Bonds could have faced years in prison had he been convicted on the perjury charges but it looks like he’s going to dodge a bullet for the time being.  The conviction on obstruction could carry jail time but it’s unlikely Bonds will spend any time behind bars.

Bonds is already guilty in the court of public opinion.  I doubt he’s really concerned with that considering his general surly nature.  He supposedly didn’t react when the verdict was ready.  I guess some things never change.
