Investigation claims “Three Cups of Tea” author lied about his story

The headline:  ’60 Minutes’ investigates ‘Three Cups of Tea’ author Greg Mortenson

The summary:  A 60 Minutes investigation alleges that Greg Mortensen, author of the best seller “Three Cups of Tea”, lied about many parts of the root of the story – that he was lost in Pakistan and rescued by the citizens of a remote village.

The reaction:  There are several cases out there of people embellishing their stories to make for better reading.  Some have been outed quite famously (like when Oprah turned on “A Million Little Pieces” author James Frey).

The interview is a fascinating read and some of the evidence is pretty damning.  If he did indeed make up the stories found in the book, I hope he gets outed too to the fullest extent possible.
