Major League Baseball takes over operations of the LA Dodgers

The headline:  Bud Selig says MLB will run Dodgers

The link:  http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/news/story?id=6397488

The summary:  Major League Baseball has announced that it will assume control of the Los Angeles Dodgers citing the chaos created by the team owners’ bitter divorce battle.

The reaction:  You’ll occasionally see teams taken over for financial reasons (e.g. the New Orleans Hornets of the NBA) but rarely do you see something like this.

I haven’t been following the divorce case of Frank and Jamie McCourt very closely but it must be getting pretty heated for Bud Selig and MLB to step in and assume control.  The Dodgers are a long and storied franchise that don’t need this kind of blemish in their history.
