The headline:  Donald Trump dodged Vietnam War through medical deferment, not high draft number as he claimed

The link:

The summary:  Selective service records indicate that Donald Trump was able to avoid the draft for the Vietnam War due to a medical deferment and not due to a high draft number as he’s claimed he had.

The reaction:  So the guy who’s getting on Barack Obama about releasing his records doesn’t want to release any of his own?  Weird.

Trump is proving with the whole birther issue and now his Vietnam draft status that he’s not real big on facts.  He’s become very good at making facts and stories to twist the truth into whatever he wants it to be.  Maybe he’ll be a good politician after all!

Groupon to stop advertising on The Apprentice after Trump’s birther stance

The headline:  Groupon Won’t Place Ads on ‘Apprentice’ Site After Complaints About Trump

The link:

The summary:  Groupon has decided to pull all of its advertisements from The Apprentice in response to Donald Trump’s recent birther actions and allegations against Barack Obama.

The reaction:  I’m just waiting for the response from Trump saying that Groupon doesn’t know how to run a business or they’re scared of the truth or something ridiculous like that.

Trump is very much a political hot potato lately and it’s not surprising that some previous supporters are starting to jump ship.  Trump pounce and attack method of expressing his views is turning off a lot of potential voters and could make a run for the White House especially challenging.

91 year old woman selling suicide kits

The headline:  The 91-Year-Old Woman Selling Suicide Kits

The link:

The summary:  A 91 year old San Diego woman is selling suicide kits complete with a plastic bag to cover your head, a small helium tank and a plastic tube to connect the two for about $60 on the internet.

The reaction:  I give her credit for her entrepreneurial spirit but something about this whole idea strikes me as slightly macabre.

Charging somebody $60 to essentially give them the means to kill themselves doesn’t sound entirely appropriate.  Money aside, isn’t there something of a moral issue involved with profiting off of this?  I’m all for making money but does this cross the line?

Oakland Coliseum to be renamed Coliseum

The headline:  The Oakland Raiders get a new, ridiculous stadium name

The link:

The summary:  The Oakland-Alameda Coliseum Authority has announced a deal that will rename the Oakland Coliseum to the Coliseum.

The reaction:  I wish I was making this up.

It’s amazing what corporate money does in today’s society.  Most of the college bowl games have been ruined with corporate naming.  Stadium names are quickly becoming a joke because of them.  The thing that struck me was the price tag.  $7.2 million for 6 years?  That seems like a pretty cheap cost to name a major sporting stadium for 6 years.

Trump takes credit for Obama birth certificate

The headline:  Trump takes credit for Obama birth certificate release, but wonders “is it real?”

The link:;contentBody

The summary:  Pro wrestler Chris Jericho became the latest celebrity voted off of Dancing With The Stars leaving this season’s field with just six dancers remaining.

The reaction:  Of course the guy wonders if it’s real.  Because he doesn’t know how to let it go.

Plus, I’m not sure what he’s taking credit for.  That he irritated Obama enough to make him request his birth certificate?  Mission accomplished.  Trump’s ego is so massive I can’t imagine why anybody would think this guy should be president.

Hackers may have obtained credit card data from Sony Playstation Network

The headline:  Sony: Credit card data at risk in PlayStation hack

The link:

The summary:  User credit card information may be at risk when data hackers broke into the Sony Playstation Network online service sometime about a week ago.  Some 75 million users could be affected.

The reaction:  Sony becomes the latest victim of a data intrusion and the potential impact could be huge.

For its part, Sony is saying they have no evidence that credit card data was taken but acknowledge that it’s a possibility.  They claim that the card’s security code was safe.  Either way, it’s another sad reminder about how none of our information is safe any more.

The headline:  Jet skids off runway in Chicago, nobody injured

The link:

The summary:  A Southwest Airlines jet skidded off a runway upon landing at Chicago’s Midway Airport and ended up in a grassy muddy area in the corner of the airport.  No one was hurt.

The reaction:  We don’t really know what happened yet.  Was it pilot error?  Bad conditions?

It looks on the video that the plane ended up in a pretty safe area and the passengers were taxied to the terminal without issue so thankfully this incident came to a pretty safe conclusion.
