The headline:  Octomom Nadya Suleman says she ‘hates’ her children, contemplates suicide: ‘They disgust me’

The summary:  Octomom Nadya Suleman in a new interview with In Touch Weekly said that her octuplets “disgust” her and wishes that she had not had them, that her six older children are “animals” and that she has contemplated suicide.

The reaction:  It should come as no surprise that a single mom with limited financial means has trouble raising 14 children.

The suicide part surprised me a little bit.  She seemed so over-the-top excited to have more kids that it’s at least a little surprising that she’s done a complete 180.  She’s supposedly headed back to TV soon so maybe that’ll help by about 2% but she’s got a lot of issues to work through.

Mom goes shopping with 3 month old baby she just killed

The headline:  Mom killed baby in a drunken rage, then strapped him in a BabyBjorn and went shopping: prosecutors

The link: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2011/06/30/2011-06-30_mom_killed_baby_in_a_drunken_rage_then_strapped_him_in_a_babybjorn_and_went_shop.html

The summary:  A Chicago mother is being charged with murder after she suffocated and killed her 3 month old son and then strapped him into a BabyBjorn infant carrier and took him shopping in order to avoid the boy’s father.

The reaction:  My God!  Are there really people out there that do this type of thing?

I’m not sure what I can say about this that isn’t already blatantly obvious.  This woman deserves the severest punishment the law allows but unfortunately it will be too late for her little boy.

Harrison Ford calls Shia LeBeouf a “f***ing idiot”

The headline:  Ford: LaBeouf a ‘f**king idiot’

The link: http://jam.canoe.ca/Movies/2011/06/29/18351711-wenn-story.html?cid=rssentertainment

The summary:  Harrison Ford called his “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” co-star Shia LeBeouf a “f***ing idiot” after LeBeouf stated that he was disappointed with how the movie turned out.

The reaction:  Ford is certainly entitled to his opinion but I can’t really see what LeBeouf did wrong here.

He simply said that he didn’t feel that he was able to make the movie live up to the legacy of the others the way he would have liked to.  He’s just being honest and I give him credit for being able to look at his own work with a critical eye.  Ford was upset because he felt he “turned” on the movie.  I think LeBeouf was just being honest.  I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.

The headline:  Police: Texas man dumps 4-year-old son by highway

The link: http://www.rr.com/news/topic/article/rr/8459870/44996040/Police_Texas_man_dumps_4-year-old_son_by_highway

The summary:  A man in Texas is being charged with child endangerment and possibly attempted murder after he dumped his 4 year old son by the side of a rural highway at 3AM and left him to fend for himself claiming that God had told him to expel the boy from the car.

The reaction:  I’m not sure what type of God would tell someone to do this to his own son.

Child endangerment charges won’t be nearly enough for this guy.  He’s clearly mentally ill and needs to be removed from society altogether.  The thought of this young boy being left in the cold and dark for several hours alone to simply survive makes me sick to my stomach.  I really hope this “dad” gets what he has coming to him.

Tracy Morgan follows up homophobic comments with remarks about “retarded kids”

The headline:  Tracy Morgan under fire again for cracking offensive jokes about the mentally disabled in NYC show

The summary:  Tracy Morgan is being criticized for jokes he made about “retarded kids” recently.  This follows Morgan’s highly criticized comments he made saying that he’d kill his son if he were gay.

The reaction:  I’m a Tracy Morgan fan but apparently this guy didn’t learn anything from his first run in.

Morgan claims he was just trying to be funny and meant no offense but he should know better that there are just some things you shouldn’t joke about.  Joking about “retarded kids” should be off limits as should saying you’re going to kill your son if he’s gay.  It’s not rocket science but I guess some people need a reminder.

Charlie Sheen admits to steroid use during filming of Major League

The headline:  Charlie Sheen Reveals Steroid Use For ‘Major League’ Role

The link: http://movies.yahoo.com/news/usmovies.accesshollywood.com/charlie-sheen-reveals-steroid-use-major-league-role?nc

The summary:  Charlie Sheen reveals in a recent Sports Illustrated interview that he did steroids for “six or eight weeks” to prepare for his role in the baseball movie Major League.

The reaction:  Did anybody tell him that it wasn’t real baseball?

In light of everything that’s happened to Sheen in the last six months I suppose this isn’t at all surprising.  The fact that he took steroids indicates that he took his role as Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn just a bit too seriously.  I understand wanting your fastball to look good but that’s what the Hollywood cameras are for.  Besides, you’re a PRETEND pitcher!

Newsweek Photoshops age-progressed Princess Diana next to Kate Middleton for cover shot

The headline:  When Photoshop attacks! Celebs get digitally nipped and tucked

The summary:  In conjunction with a story suggesting what life would be like if Princess Diana were here, Newsweek created a shot of a digitally age-progressed photo of Diana walking next to Kate Middleton for its cover shot.

The reaction:  A lot of people seem to be up in arms over this but I don’t think it’s quite that bad.

I think the story is reasonable enough to run but, yeah, maybe the Photoshop job and the milk carton-like age progression is a little much.  I can understand how some people who hold Diana in high esteem might be bothered by this but ultimately I think there are more important things to worry about.

North Korea women’s World Cup coach claims team was struck by lightning

The headline:  North Korea blame loss to U.S. on players getting struck by lightning

The link:  http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/blog/dirty-tackle/post/North-Korea-blames-loss-to-U-S-on-players-getti?urn=sow-wp2852

The summary:  Following a 2-0 loss to the United States in their World Cup opener, the North Korea women’s coach told reporters that several members of the team were struck by lightning and affected their performance in the game.

The reaction:  Of all the reasons I’ve heard for a team losing an important game, the team getting struck by lightning has to be a first.

Who knows if this is really true or not.  I feel more comfortable saying that the players on the team are probably at risk for being physically tortured by their government for losing than saying they were struck by lightning.  Plus, as the article mentions, it’s quite ironic that this information only comes out after a World Cup loss.

YouTube video of UFO “fleet” over London goes viral (with video)

The headline:  UFOs seen in London skies: viral video spotlight

The link:  http://beta.news.yahoo.com/ufos-seen-london-skies-viral-video-spotlight-104311550.html

The summary:  A viral video has appeared on YouTube supposedly showing a fleet of UFOs and their mothership hovering over London recently.

The reaction:  It’s a fun video to watch but it smells of hoax.

Like the article suggests, I wonder if this is part of some promotional campaign or is the product of some kid and his computer.  Just look at the video or more importantly listen to the people taking this video.  They don’t seem particularly in awe, surprised, scared or show any emotion I imagine I would if I suddenly saw a fleet of UFOs flying right over my head.  I imagine the truth will come out shortly.

Check it out for yourself…

TSA forces 95 year old cancer patient to remove adult diaper

The headline:  The Latest TSA Outrage: A Cancer Patient Forced to Remove Adult Diaper

The link:  http://news.yahoo.com/s/atlantic/20110627/ts_atlantic/tsaforces95yearoldcancerpatientremoveadultdiaper39287_1

The summary:  During a routine airport security check, a 95 year old cancer patient was pulled aside and forced to remove her adult diaper as part of a security patdown.

The reaction:  C’mon TSA!  Is this really necessary?

I’m not sure what kind of security threat they thought a soiled adult diaper was.  Did they feel this woman was a security threat or a terrorist?  She was in a wheelchair.  Maybe they thought she was sneaking a knife or a box cutter in there?  I have no idea.  I can’t imagine what the TSA was thinking here.
